With the world at your feet

Affordable London | Car-Boot Sales

(Para ler este post em Português: Pra deitar e rolar)

Do you wanna know where London’s trendsetters buy cool stuff without burning all their pennies…? The answer is: in Car-Boot Sales.

London is well known as one of the most expensive cities in the world, but thanks to my friend Jim I discovered that yes! there’re ways to spend your days here in an affordable way – and buy all sorts of  things for really cheap prices!!!

A Car-Boot Sale is a traditional British outdoor sale at which people sell personal possessions from the trunk of their car. Some of the sellers are professional traders but most are just regular people trying to get rid of things they no longer need – sometimes used, sometimes not. Anyone can apply to be a seller: you just need to pay a small fee to join the event.

Every weekend there’re several Car-Boot Sales happening all over the city. Especially when the sun is shining there’s nothing more pleasant than to browse such a wide variety of attractive merchandise! You’ll find CDs, LPs, books, antiques, toys, coats, hats, scarfs, t-shirts, dresses, shoes, electronic devices, kitchen gadgets, etc… I strongly recommend everyone should give it a try – I’m sure you’ll discover some great bargains and (who knows?) maybe you’ll even bump upon a treasure!!!

All this stuff cost me only £37,00!!

So far I’ve been in two Car-Boot Sales: in the first one I bought myself a beautiful wool scarf for £1.00 and a mesh jacket for 30p, and in the second a genuine leather waistcoat for £5.00, four LPs for £4.00 each and an external DVD/CD writer for £15.00! Almost unbelievable!!
